Dhalia Upma - Dalia - Cracked Wheat Upma

Ingredients for Dalia Upma
Dhalia - 1 cup
Mustard seed - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Green chillies - 2
Ginger - 1/2 inch piece
Curry leaves - few
Coriander leaves - to garnish
Tomato - 1 medium sized
Asafoetida powder - small pinch
Salt - to taste
Oil - 2 tbsp
Preparation:
Cut chillies and ginger into small pieces. Chop tomatoes into small pieces and keep aside.
How to make dalia upmaIn a pan, heat the oil. Add mustard, urad dal and asafoetida. When the mustard stops crackling, add the chillies, ginger and curry leaves.
Add the tomatoes, fry for a half a minute and add two cups of water.
Add salt. When the water starts boiling, lower the flame, and add the dhalia. Cover with lid.
After two minutes, stir the upma and again cover.
Let the dhalia cook on slow fire till done, i.e. about five minutes.
Garnish with coriander leaves, and (optional) fresh coconut grating.
Serve with a drop of ghee.
