Instant Khaman Dhokla - Gujrati snack recipe

This Instant khaman dhokla recipe takes very little time to make.


It is great to serve as a evening snack.

When unexpected guests arrive, you can make it within few minutes.

Dhokla can be served at room temperature.

So it is good dish to serve at parties or for taking to picnic.

This is not a spicy version so can be served to kids too.



How to make Instant Khaman Dhokla


Ingredients for instant dhokla:


Besan (chickpea flour): 500 gms
Butter milk: 400ml
Sugar: 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Fruit salt : 1 tbsp

Ingredients for tadka (tempering)


Dhania (Coriander seeds) :1 tsp
Jeera (Cumin seeds):1 tsp
Rai (mustard seeds): 1 tsp
Curry leaves: 10
Hing (Asafoetida): pinch

Ingredients for garnishing



Fresh grated coconut - 2 tbsp
Hara dhania (Fresh coriander leaves, cilantro) - chopped - 2 tbsp

Making instant dhokla method


Take deep steel plate or pan and grease it with a little oil. Keep aside.
Take a bowl and add in besan, butter milk,salt sugar and fruit salt and make the batter(of dosa / pancake consistency).
Now pour the batter into the greased pan or plate and steam for 15 min.
Cool for a few minutes.
Cut into squares.

For making tadka - tempering



Take 2 tbsp oil in pan and add all tadka ingredients.
When the mustard and cumin seeds splutter, take off fire.
And pour on steamed dhokla and garnish with fresh coconut powder and coriander.

Serve immediately or after cooling completely. It tastes great both ways.

You may serve it by itself, with tomato sauce/ketchup or with your favorite chutney.
